Manuel Segade Madrid

Manuel Segade is an art historian, curator, writer, and educator. He currently serves as the Director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. From 2016 to 2023, he was the Director of CA2M – Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Móstoles, Spain.

Earlier in his career, Segade served as Content Coordinator for the Metrònom Fundació Rafael Tous d'Art Contemporani in Barcelona (2005–2006), and as Curator at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela (2007–2009). He has also produced and curated projects for institutions such as La Casa Encendida, ARCO, MUSAC, Centre d'Art La Panera, and Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo. In 2017, he curated the Spanish Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale.

Segade has taught on several postgraduate curatorial programs and is the author and editor of numerous publications, including Elements of Vogue, Kiss My Genders, and Endgame: Duchamp, Chess and the Avant-gardes. He is also a founding member of both the European Art Assembly and the European Forum for Advanced Practices.
