Maria-Thalia Carras

Maria-Thalia Carras is a curator, writer and film producer. She is the director and co-founder of TAVROS, an independent art space in Athens, Greece. Through its program of exhibitions, screenings, talks, and educational initiatives, TAVROS fosters collaborations with local communities and like-minded institutions, creating an open and welcoming platform for unheard and marginalized voices. Its programme explores notions of democracy, equality, and ecology through dialogue, listening, and learning.
Previously, she was the co-founder of Locus Athens, a nomadic non-profit organization that investigated the intersection between public space and contemporary visual practices in Athens and beyond. In 2021, she served as a member of the jury for the 23rd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, and in 2023, she curated the 8th Thessaloniki Biennial, titled Being as Communion.
