Rachel Winter

Rachel Winter is a curator, art historian, and award-winning author. Currently, Winter is working ad a Curator at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI.

Her most recent exhibitions include: unbecoming, a mid-career survey of Syrian American artist Diana Al-Hadid (2025); Samia Halaby: Eye Witness, the artist's first American museum retrospective (2024); and Kayla Mattes: DOOMSCROLLING, the artist's first solo museum exhibition. She co-edited the monograph Samia Halaby: Centers of Energy, which was named outstanding monograph by the Midwest Art History Society. Her second co-edited book, Diana Al-Hadid: unbecoming, was published in fall 2025. In 2024, she earned her Ph.D. in the History of Art & Architecture from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Winter writes broadly about modern and contemporary art from the SWANA region, American art, and museums, and has published her research in forums such as Woman's Art Journal, International Journal of Islamic Architecture, and Panorama: Journal of the Association of Historians of American Art.
